HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic Mind + Body Very Berry Blend by up4
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Partial disclosure
This gummy contains four active ingredients: sodium, Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856, Bacillus subtilis DE111, and a proprietary probiotic blend. The sodium and probiotics are meant to support overall wellness; the specific roles of the proprietary blend are not detailed in the product information we have.
The gummy also contains inactive ingredients — glucose syrup, cane sugar, water, pectin, and others — that make up the form and flavor.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence is mixed and often incomplete for what this product claims to do. Bacillus coagulans is possibly effective for constipation and irritable bowel syndrome, but we don't have enough data yet on its use for antibiotic-associated diarrhea or athletic performance.
Bacillus subtilis is possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea, but evidence is insufficient for constipation, athletic performance, and several other uses. Sodium itself has limited reliable evidence for most conditions, though it's likely effective in cystic fibrosis and possibly effective for amphotericin B kidney damage — neither of which is typically why someone takes this product.
Bottom line: if you're hoping for digestive support, there's some modest evidence for the probiotic strains, but don't expect dramatic results.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Sodium is generally well tolerated in normal dietary amounts, but too much is linked to high blood pressure and heart strain. If you already have heart disease, high blood pressure, or kidney problems, avoid sodium supplements without talking to your doctor first.
The two Bacillus strains are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, though limited safety data exist. Rare cases of infection (bacteremia, sepsis) have been reported in severely ill or immunocompromised patients — healthy people with intact immune systems are at very low risk.
One trial participant reported a headache with Bacillus subtilis, and diarrhea has been reported rarely. For pregnancy and lactation: sodium is rated possibly unsafe in one classification, while data on the probiotic strains during pregnancy and breastfeeding are not on file — talk to your doctor if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you use blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs), lithium, corticosteroids, HIV medications like didanosine, laxatives containing sodium phosphate, tolvaptan, or any other sodium-containing medications — sodium can reduce their effectiveness or increase the risk of dangerously high blood sodium. If you're on antibiotics, take them at least a few hours apart from this product, since the antibiotics may kill the live probiotic organisms.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glancePartially disclosed formula with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may help with mild constipation or IBS symptoms based on the probiotic strains it contains, but the evidence is modest and varies by person. It's not right for you if you take blood pressure medications, lithium, antibiotics, or other sodium-sensitive drugs without checking first with your doctor or pharmacist.
Healthy adults generally tolerate it well, but if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, or a weakened immune system, get personalized advice before starting.

Probiotic Mind + Body Very Berry Blend by up4 Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Up4's Probiotic Mind + Body Very Berry Blend interacts with medications through its sodium content and two live-organism probiotic strains.
The most serious concern is sodium's effect on blood pressure control: if you take antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications), high sodium intake can reduce how well they work. Additionally, sodium can alter lithium levels in patients being treated for bipolar disorder, potentially causing toxicity or loss of control.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Sodium in this product may also increase the risk of dangerously high blood sodium levels (hypernatremia) when combined with corticosteroids, didanosine (an HIV medication), sodium phosphate laxatives, tolvaptan (used for low blood sodium), or other sodium-containing drugs. Altogether, these interactions span 387 individual medications.
Both Bacillus coagulans and Bacillus subtilis are live organisms. If you're taking antibiotics, they may kill off these probiotic bacteria and reduce the supplement's effectiveness — separating doses by a few hours can help.
French melon extract was not checked; we hold no interaction data for it.

For each ingredient in Probiotic Mind + Body Very Berry Blend with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Sodium
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, a high intake of dietary sodium might reduce the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs.
High intake of dietary sodium can increase systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Also, high intake of sodium may necessitate increased use of antihypertensive medications to achieve blood pressure control in some patients, such as those with chronic kidney disease.
Corticosteroids
Concomitant use of mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Mineralocorticoids and some glucocorticoids (corticosteroids) cause sodium retention. This effect is dose-related and depends on mineralocorticoid potency. It is most common with hydrocortisone, cortisone, and fludrocortisone, followed by prednisone and prednisolone.
Didanosine (Videx)
Concomitant use of didanosine with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Didanosine formulations contain a significant amount of sodium.
Lithium
Altering dietary intake of sodium might alter the levels and clinical effects of lithium.
High sodium intake can reduce plasma concentrations of lithium by increasing lithium excretion. Reducing sodium intake can significantly increase plasma concentrations of lithium and cause lithium toxicity in patients being treated with lithium carbonate. Stabilizing sodium intake is shown to reduce the percentage of patients with lithium level fluctuations above 0.8 mEq/L. Patients taking lithium should avoid significant alterations in their dietary intake of sodium.
Sodium Phosphates
Theoretically, concomitant use of sodium phosphate with sodium supplements might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Use of high doses (> 45 mL in 24 hours) of sodium phosphate, such as those used for bowel cleansing before surgery, can lead to serious electrolyte disturbances, including hypernatremia. The risk of hypernatremia is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Sodium-Containing Drugs
Concomitant use of sodium-containing drugs with additional sodium from dietary or supplemental sources may increase the risk of hypernatremia and long-term sodium-related complications.
The Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) intake level of 2.3 grams of sodium daily indicates the intake at which it is believed that chronic disease risk increases for the apparently healthy population. Some medications contain high quantities of sodium. When used in conjunction with sodium supplements or high-sodium diets, the CDRR may be exceeded. Additionally, concomitant use may increase the risk for hypernatremia; this risk is highest in the elderly and people with other risk factors for electrolyte disturbances.
Tolvaptan (Samsca)
Theoretically, concomitant use of tolvaptan with sodium might increase the risk of hypernatremia.
Tolvaptan is a vasopressin receptor 2 antagonist that is used to increase sodium levels in patients with hyponatremia. Patients taking tolvaptan should use caution with the use of sodium salts such as sodium chloride.
Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking antibiotics with Bacillus coagulans might decrease the effectiveness of B. coagulans.
B. coagulans preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. coagulans preparations by at least two hours.
Bacillus subtilis DE111
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bacillus subtilis with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. subtilis.
Since B. subtilis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. subtilis preparations by at least 2 hours.
