Probiotics and Prebiotics Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotics and Prebiotics against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotics and Prebiotics by Intelligent Labs
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This capsule contains 10 active probiotic and prebiotic ingredients. The probiotics are live bacterial strains — L. acidophilus, L. casei, L. plantarum, L. rhamnosus, L. paracasei, L. lactis, B. bifidum, B. breve, and B. longum — designed to support your gut bacteria.
The prebiotic is fructooligosaccharides, a type of fiber that feeds the good bacteria already in your system. The rest are inactive ingredients: cellulose, guar fiber, stearic acid, and silicon dioxide, which help form and stabilize the capsule.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence for this product's benefits is mixed. L. acidophilus and B. bifidum are possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome and some other digestive conditions, and L. acidophilus is possibly effective for antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
B. breve and B. longum show insufficient evidence for most conditions listed, meaning research hasn't yet established how well they work. For many uses — allergies, respiratory infections, anxiety, cognitive decline — we simply don't have enough reliable data to know whether this product helps.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
L. acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. B. bifidum, B. breve, and B. longum are generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is advised for anyone with a weakened immune system or serious illness, since there are rare reports of these bacteria causing infection in critically ill patients.
Common side effects from probiotics in general include bloating, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea, though these are uncommon. Rare cases of rash and itching have been reported with probiotic combinations.
No pregnancy or breastfeeding data are on file for these ingredients; talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether to use this product if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotic drugs, separate them from this product — antibiotics can kill the live bacteria in it and reduce how well it works. The interaction is rated Moderate for all the checked probiotic strains.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product may help with irritable bowel syndrome and antibiotic-related diarrhea, but don't take it at the same time as antibiotics — space them out. If you have a weakened immune system or serious illness, check with your doctor first.

Probiotics and Prebiotics by Intelligent Labs Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Intelligent Labs Probiotics and Prebiotics contains five probiotic strains we could check, and all of them interact with antibiotic drugs.
The most serious concern is that antibiotics may kill off the live bacteria in this product, reducing its effectiveness. Since L. acidophilus, B. bifidum, B. breve, and B. longum all contain active organisms, taking them at the same time as antibiotics could mean fewer beneficial bacteria survive in your gut.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The interaction with antibiotics is rated Moderate for every checked ingredient. If you're on an antibiotic, space out your doses — don't take this product and your antibiotic at the same time.
Your pharmacist or doctor can suggest a schedule that works.
We couldn't check five other probiotic strains in this blend: L. casei, L. plantarum, L. rhamnosus, L. paracasei, and L. lactis. Altogether, these interactions span 182 individual medications.
