How safe is it?

Glycerol is generally well tolerated in normal amounts, though large oral doses can cause stomach upset, bloating, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and headache. Chicory may cause gas and can trigger allergies in sensitive people, especially if someone reacts to ragweed or daisy-family plants.
Borage seed oil that is certified free of pyrrolizidine alkaloids (liver-toxic compounds) is better tolerated, but other borage plant parts can harm the liver. Several ingredients carry pregnancy and breastfeeding cautions: chicory is possibly unsafe in pregnancy, borage is likely unsafe in both pregnancy and breastfeeding, and chrysanthemum safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established.
