Anacaulase-bcdb falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Borage interacts with.

Theoretically, borage seed oil may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In healthy individuals, borage seed oil supplementation does not seem to affect platelet aggregation. However, gamma-linolenic acid, a constituent of borage seed oil, seems to decrease platelet aggregation by 45% and increase the risk of bleeding by 40% in animal and clinical research.

NexoBrid (anacaulase-bcdb) isn't a pill you swallow. It's an enzyme gel made from pineapple that surgeons apply directly onto severe burns to dissolve and remove dead tissue. Because it's used right on the wound, the body it interacts with is the open, raw skin, where bleeding is already a real concern during this kind of debridement.

Here's the cautious thinking: borage seed oil's GLA may slightly thin the blood and make platelets a little less sticky, so layering it on top of a treatment that already exposes raw tissue could, in theory, mean more oozing or harder-to-control bleeding. This is a theoretical, modest concern from lower-quality evidence, not something firmly proven. Still, don't stop or start anything on your own. Please tell your surgical and pharmacy team about any borage product before your procedure.
