Naproxen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Borage interacts with.

Theoretically, borage seed oil may increase the risk of bleeding if used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In healthy individuals, borage seed oil supplementation does not seem to affect platelet aggregation. However, gamma-linolenic acid, a constituent of borage seed oil, seems to decrease platelet aggregation by 45% and increase the risk of bleeding by 40% in animal and clinical research.

Here's the gist: naproxen, like other NSAIDs, already nudges your blood toward bleeding a little because it affects how platelets clump together. Borage seed oil contains GLA, which in some research lowered platelet stickiness and modestly raised bleeding risk. Stack the two and you could, in theory, see more bruising, nosebleeds, stomach upset, or even GI bleeding (naproxen is hard on the stomach lining to begin with).

That said, the evidence here is on the weaker side, and in healthy people borage didn't clearly change platelet activity. So this isn't a reason to panic, just a reason to be aware. If you take naproxen often or are on a blood thinner too, check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding borage, and watch for unusual bleeding or black stools.

What Is Naproxen Used For?

Brand names: Naprosyn, Naprelan, Anaprox, Anaprox DS, Naproxyn, Navalbine, Naproxen, Naprosyn EC, Napro-Na, Aleve, Arthroxen, Synflex, EC-Naprosyn

Naproxen tablets, naproxen sodium tablets, and naproxen oral suspension are used to relieve the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis. They are also used for tendonitis, bursitis, and acute gout, and for managing pain and primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps).

Naproxen Sodium Controlled-Release Tablets are indicated for the same conditions plus the relief of mild to moderate pain. Several over-the-counter naproxen sodium products are indicated for the temporary relief of minor aches and pains from headache, backache, muscular aches, toothache, menstrual cramps, minor arthritis pain, and the common cold, and to temporarily reduce fever.
