Both live probiotics in this product are generally well tolerated in healthy adults, but the evidence is limited and quality can vary by product and strain. Rare side effects from Saccharomyces boulardii include abdominal cramps, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite — and, very rarely, a serious yeast infection (fungemia) in people who are critically ill, have central lines, or are receiving broad-spectrum antibiotics.

DE111 has rarely caused headache or diarrhea in trials, and there are rare case reports of serious infection (bacteremia and meningitis) in people with compromised immunity who frequently consume fermented foods containing Bacillus. If you're immunocompromised, critically ill, or in intensive care, check with your doctor before using this product.

Antibiotic Drugs

Theoretically, taking Bacillus subtilis with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. subtilis.
Since B. subtilis preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. subtilis preparations by at least 2 hours.
