TruBifido contains five active ingredients, all probiotics—beneficial live bacteria. The two we have detailed data for are Bifidobacterium longum infantis and Bifidobacterium bifidum; the others are additional Bifidobacterium strains (Bi-07, HN019, and animalis lactis) grouped in a proprietary blend.
The inactive ingredients are cellulose, alginate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, gellan gum, water, phosphate, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, ascorbic acid, LactoStim, and calcium silicate—these are binders, fillers, and capsule materials.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence for this product is mixed and limited. Bifidobacterium bifidum shows possibly effective ratings for irritable bowel syndrome and respiratory tract infections, but evidence is insufficient to rate its use for hay fever, Alzheimer disease, or anxiety.
Bifidobacterium longum infantis is rated possibly ineffective for age-related cognitive decline and sepsis, and we have insufficient evidence for hay fever, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and atopic disease. For most of the conditions these strains might target, the research just isn't there yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Both checked Bifidobacterium strains are generally well tolerated in healthy people, but caution is warranted if you're very ill or immunocompromised—there are rare reports of these bacteria entering the bloodstream in critically ill patients, including infants in intensive care. Bloating and flatulence are known side effects of probiotics in general, though they haven't been specifically reported for these strains.
Safety data overall are limited, so check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you have a weakened immune system. We have no pregnancy or breastfeeding safety data on file for these ingredients.

Bifidobacterium longum infantis BI-26
Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium breve with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. breve.
Since B. breve preparations usually contain live and active organisms, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and B. breve preparations by at least 2 hours.

Theoretically, taking Bifidobacterium. bifidum with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of B. bifidum.
