HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Ultimate Omega + CoQ10 Lemon by Nordic Naturals
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains 3 active ingredients: two omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid, derived from fish oil) and Coenzyme Q10. The omega-3s support heart and brain health, while CoQ10 is an antioxidant your body makes naturally — it helps cells produce energy and is found in higher amounts in the heart, liver, and kidneys.
The capsules also contain inactive ingredients like gelatin, glycerin, and beeswax for the softgel format, plus natural lemon flavor and antioxidants like rosemary extract and vitamin E.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
CoQ10, one of the active ingredients, is rated Likely Effective for CoQ10 deficiency and Possibly Effective for fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, congestive heart failure, and diabetic nerve pain. We don't hold effectiveness data in our system for the omega-3 fatty acids in this product, so we can't speak to their evidence base from our facts alone.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
CoQ10 is generally well tolerated by most adults when used as directed. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — appetite suppression, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting — though these occur in less than 1% of people taking it.
Dividing doses above 100 mg per day can help minimize these. Headache, dizziness, and insomnia have also been reported.
Skin itching and allergic rash are rare. Safety data during pregnancy is not on file for CoQ10, and breastfeeding safety hasn't been well studied, so talk with your doctor before using this product if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist before using this product if you take warfarin (Coumadin) or other blood thinners, blood pressure medications, or chemotherapy drugs — especially alkylating agents like cyclophosphamide. CoQ10 may reduce how well these medications work or cause unwanted added effects.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a reasonable choice if you're looking to support heart health with omega-3s and CoQ10, especially if you have a CoQ10 deficiency or migraine headaches. But if you take warfarin, blood pressure medications, or chemotherapy drugs, you need to check with your pharmacist first — CoQ10 can interfere with how these work.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding also warrant a conversation with your doctor.

Ultimate Omega + CoQ10 Lemon by Nordic Naturals Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Ultimate Omega + CoQ10 Lemon by Nordic Naturals contains Coenzyme Q10, which has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with chemotherapy drugs called alkylating agents (like cyclophosphamide). Because CoQ10 is an antioxidant, it may theoretically reduce how well these cancer drugs work by protecting tumor cells from the oxidative stress the drugs are meant to cause.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Moderate interactions are also documented with warfarin (Coumadin), a blood thinner. CoQ10 is chemically similar to vitamin K and may have blood-clotting effects that could decrease warfarin's ability to prevent clots.
Several cases of reduced warfarin effectiveness linked to CoQ10 have been reported. Additionally, CoQ10 may have Minor interactions with blood pressure medications — some research suggests it can lower blood pressure on its own, so combined use might lower it further than intended.
The product contains two other active omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid) that we could not check for interactions — interaction data isn't available in our system for them. Altogether, these interactions span 196 individual medications.

For each ingredient in Ultimate Omega + CoQ10 Lemon with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Coenzyme Q-10
Alkylating Agents
Coenzyme Q10 has antioxidant effects. Theoretically, this may reduce the activity of chemotherapy drugs that generate free radicals.
Theoretically, antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10 might protect tumor cells from chemotherapeutic agents that work by inducing oxidative stress, such as alkylating agents (e.g., cyclophosphamide) and radiation therapy. The clinical importance of this interaction is unknown.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Coenzyme Q10 is chemically similar to menaquinone and might have vitamin K-like procoagulant effects, which could decrease the effects of warfarin.
Concomitant use of coenzyme Q10 and warfarin might reduce the anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Four cases of decreased warfarin efficacy thought to be due to coenzyme Q10 have been reported. However, there is some preliminary clinical research that suggests coenzyme Q10 might not significantly decrease the effects of warfarin in patients who have a stable INR.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, coenzyme Q10 might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical research shows that coenzyme Q10 can significantly lower blood pressure, although other studies have shown conflicting results.
