What’s inside
Partial disclosure
Vegan Essential Aminos Raspberry contains 14 active ingredients, mostly essential and conditionally essential amino acids—the building blocks your body uses to make proteins and other compounds. The amino acids include L-glutamine, L-leucine, L-isoleucine, L-methionine, L-phenylalanine, L-valine, L-histidine, L-threonine, L-tryptophan, L-lysine, L-taurine, and L-hydroxyproline.
The product also contains astragalus extract, tienchi ginseng extract, and an absorption blend called AstraGin. The inactive ingredients are malic acid, natural raspberry flavor, sunflower lecithin, stevia leaf extract, vegetable juice color, maltodextrin, and citric acid.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for these amino acids varies widely. L-glutamine is effective for sickle cell disease and possibly effective for muscle recovery after surgery, HIV-related wasting, and critical illness recovery.
L-lysine is possibly effective for cold sores. L-taurine is possibly effective for hepatitis and congestive heart failure but possibly ineffective for weight loss.
L-phenylalanine is possibly effective for vitiligo but possibly ineffective for ADHD. L-histidine is possibly effective for cholera.
For most of the other amino acids and plant extracts in this blend, the evidence we hold is insufficient to establish how well they work, or their effectiveness has not been well studied.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Most of these ingredients are generally well tolerated at typical doses. Common mild side effects from the amino acids include gastrointestinal upset—bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain.
L-tryptophan can cause drowsiness and fatigue; headache and dizziness have also been reported. L-phenylalanine may cause anxiety, insomnia, or nausea.
Astragalus and taurine are generally well tolerated short-term but long-term safety data is limited. People with kidney or liver disease should use L-glutamine only under medical supervision.
Anyone with phenylketonuria (PKU) should avoid L-phenylalanine entirely.

Formulation
Plant Based Collagen Support: Plant based diets may have reduced collagen production
Vegan
Made in Australia in a GMP & HACCP approved facility.
General Statements
Vegans and vegetarians have a reduced production of collagen. In these individuals, the gene encoding for collagen production is significantly lower.
Formula
As a particular amino acid hydroxyproline is not particularly abundant in the human diet, as it mainly comes from collagen in animal meat, offal, tripe, bone etc and insects. You may have seen a surge in popularity of bone broths, collagen, organ meats in the omnivore diets and with the carnivorous and paleo trends. Insect protein is also becoming increasingly popular. For a modern plant-based diet, the intake of hydroxyproline is even lower. The foods of the modern diet are more processed. Even when purchasing "whole" foods there are less insects, cobwebs, insect eggs etc in the plant matter so insect consumption as part of the plant-based diet has reduced. A plant-based diet historically would get hydroxyproline from insects and some plants such as alfalfa sprouts and certain mosses. A study published in 2019 showed vegans and vegetarians to be the most resistant to the concept of consuming insects as part of their diet and not likely to be able to support collagen with hydroxyproline from insects. ATP Science has made plant-based hydroxyproline to supplement your diet if deficient or provide the extra dose for those who want extra. Vegan-friendly BCAA's have been added for the benefit of muscle sparing and regenerative properties in those that are training or to compensate for the lack of leucine in plant proteins.

Vegan Essential Aminos Raspberry by ATP Science Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Vegan Essential Aminos Raspberry by ATP Science contains several amino acids and plant extracts with documented interactions.
The most serious concern is L-phenylalanine, which can significantly reduce the effectiveness of levodopa—a medication for Parkinson disease. This interaction occurs because phenylalanine competes with levodopa for transport into the brain, potentially worsening tremor and movement problems.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
L-tryptophan carries two Major-severity interactions: it may add to the sedative effects of CNS depressants (such as sedatives, sleep aids, and alcohol), and it may combine with serotonergic drugs (antidepressants, certain pain medications) to raise the risk of serotonin syndrome. L-threonine may theoretically reduce the effects of NMDA antagonists (a class of drugs used for certain neurological conditions).
Moderate interactions also involve L-glutamine and anticonvulsants, L-phenylalanine with MAOIs and baclofen, astragalus with immunosuppressants, lithium, cyclophosphamide, and diabetes drugs, and L-taurine with blood pressure medications and lithium. A Minor interaction exists between L-lysine and 5-HT4 agonists.
Altogether, these interactions span 774 individual medications. Because this product has multiple active ingredients, we strongly recommend checking your exact medications with the search tool on this page before starting.

For each ingredient in Vegan Essential Aminos Raspberry with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
L-Tryptophan
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, concomitant use of L-tryptophan with CNS depressants might cause additive sedative effects.
Clinical research shows that L-tryptophan can cause fatigue and drowsiness.
Serotonergic Drugs
Theoretically, combining L-tryptophan with serotonergic drugs might cause additive serotonergic effects.
L-tryptophan is a precursor to serotonin. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with L-tryptophan might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders.
Astragalus extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking astragalus with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research in humans shows that astragalus might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking astragalus, especially in combination with other hypoglycemic agents, might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Cyclophosphamide
Theoretically, astragalus might interfere with cyclophosphamide therapy.
Evidence regarding the effect of astragalus on immunosuppression caused by cyclophosphamide is conflicting. Some animal research suggests that astragalus reverses cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppression. However, other animal research shows no effect.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, astragalus might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Astragalus seems to stimulate immune function. Theoretically, taking astragalus might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.
Lithium
Theoretically, astragalus might increase levels and adverse effects of lithium.
Animal research suggests that astragalus has diuretic properties. Theoretically, due to this diuretic effect, astragalus might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Tienchi ginseng extract
Aspirin
Theoretically, taking Panax notoginseng concomitantly with aspirin may increase the risk of adverse effects from both products.
Animal research shows that taking Panax notoginseng extract with aspirin increases blood levels of salicylic acid by approximately 50% and blood levels of Panax notoginseng by 75% to 196%. This effect may be due to increased absorption of both products.
Caffeine
Theoretically, taking Panax notoginseng may decrease the levels and clinical effects of caffeine.
Animal research shows that administering Panax notoginseng intravenously for 7 days before intraperitoneal injection of caffeine can decrease maximal blood levels of caffeine by 37%. This interaction is attributed to the ability of Panax notoginseng to increase the activity of cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) enzymes.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, taking Panax notoginseng might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.
Animal research shows that administering Panax notoginseng intravenously for 7 days before intraperitoneal injection of caffeine can decrease maximal blood levels of caffeine by 37%. This interaction was attributed to the ability of Panax notoginseng to increase the activity of CYP1A2.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, taking Panax notoginseng concomitantly with warfarin may increase the risk of bleeding.
Animal research shows that taking Panax notoginseng concomitantly with warfarin increases plasma warfarin levels, prothrombin time, and international normalized ratio when compared with control. In vitro research also suggests that Panax notoginseng may downregulate expression of cytochrome P450 3A4 enzymes, which may affect warfarin metabolism.
L-Taurine
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taurine might increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.
Some clinical evidence suggests that taurine can reduce both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Lithium
Theoretically, taurine might reduce excretion and increase plasma levels of lithium.
Taurine is thought to have diuretic properties, which might reduce the excretion of lithium.
L-Glutamine
Anticonvulsants
Theoretically, glutamine might antagonize the effects of anticonvulsant medications.
Glutamine is metabolized to the excitatory neurotransmitter glutamate. Glutamate might have antagonistic effects with anticonvulsant drugs. However, this interaction has not yet been reported in humans.
L-Phenylalanine
Levodopa
Phenylalanine, especially in high doses, can reduce the effectiveness of levodopa.
Phenylalanine competes with levodopa for carrier-mediated transport into the brain. The resulting reduction in levels of levodopa in the brain can exacerbate tremor, rigidity, and the "on-off" phenomenon in patients with Parkinson disease.
Baclofen
Concomitant intake of phenylalanine may reduce the intestinal absorption of baclofen.
Phenylalanine and baclofen share the same intestinal carrier for absorption; phenylalanine competitively inhibits the absorption of baclofen, reducing its plasma levels.
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (Maois)
Theoretically, concomitant use of L-phenylalanine and non-selective MAOIs might increase the risk of hypertensive crisis.
L-phenylalanine is metabolized to tyrosine. Some evidence suggests that L-phenylalanine, given with the non-selective MAOI pargyline, might prevent the elimination of tyramine, increasing the risk of hypertensive crisis. However, this was not reported in a small number of patients when using L-phenylalanine with the partially selective MAO-B inhibitor, selegiline.
L-Threonine
Nmda Antagonists
Theoretically, threonine might decrease the effects of NMDA antagonists.
Threonine increases central nervous system (CNS) glycine levels. Glycine seems to bind a site on NMDA receptors and enhance the activity of the receptors.
L-Lysine
5-Ht4 Agonists
Theoretically, lysine may reduce the effects of 5-HT4 agonists.
Animal research suggests that L-lysine is a partial serotonin receptor 4 (5-HT4) antagonist and inhibits diarrhea induced by the 5-HT4 agonist, 5-hydroxytryptophane.
