Salmeterol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Acacia Rigidula interacts with.

Theoretically, Acacia rigidula products that are adulterated with beta-methylphenylethylamine (BMPEA) might increase the levels of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA, an adulterant found in many Acacia rigidula products, inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme by 37%.

Here's the gist for your inhaler. Salmeterol is cleared from your body by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Some Acacia rigidula products are tainted with a hidden stimulant (BMPEA), and lab studies suggest that ingredient can slow CYP3A4 down a bit. In theory, that could let salmeterol build up a little higher than usual.

Why does that matter? Salmeterol is a long-acting beta agonist, so more of it floating around could mean a faster or pounding heartbeat, shakiness, jitteriness, headache, or muscle cramps. On top of that, Acacia rigidula is itself a stimulant, so you'd be stacking two things that rev up the heart. Keep in mind this interaction is only based on lab data, not real patient studies, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. Given the safety questions around these supplements, I'd run it by your pharmacist or doctor before mixing them.

What Is Salmeterol Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand name: Serevent

Serevent Diskus (salmeterol inhalation powder) is used for three main purposes: treating asthma in patients aged 4 and older alongside an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS), preventing exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB) in patients aged 4 and older, and providing long-term maintenance treatment of bronchospasm associated with COPD — including chronic bronchitis and emphysema — in adults.

Important: Serevent Diskus is not a rescue inhaler. It will not relieve a sudden asthma or COPD attack. For asthma, it must always be used together with an inhaled corticosteroid — using it alone for asthma is contraindicated due to a serious risk of asthma-related death.
