Mirtazapine works by boosting serotonin and other brain signals to lift your mood. The thinking here is that acetyl-L-carnitine may also nudge serotonin levels up, at least based on animal studies. Put the two together and there's a theoretical chance of too much serotonin activity, which can show up as things like agitation, shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, or feeling unusually restless. In rare, serious cases that adds up to serotonin syndrome.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: the evidence comes from lab and animal research, not from people, so for most folks this is a low-key, watch-and-see concern rather than a red alert. Still, before you add this supplement, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how you're feeling.

What Is Mirtazapine Used For?

Mirtazapine tablets, mirtazapine orally disintegrating tablets, Remeron, and RemeronsолTab are all indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults. Major depressive disorder involves a persistently low or sad mood most days, often accompanied by loss of interest, sleep changes, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating.

The effectiveness of mirtazapine tablets in maintaining a response for up to 40 weeks after an initial treatment period has also been demonstrated. Patients should be reassessed periodically to determine whether continued treatment is needed.
