CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Tasimelteon
Tasimelteon falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group Adrue interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: Tasimelteon (Hetlioz) is a sleep medication that mimics melatonin to help reset your sleep clock. Adrue has been used traditionally as a calming, sedative-type herb. When you put two things that promote sleepiness together, the worry is that they add up. You might feel more drowsy, groggy, or sluggish than usual, especially the next morning, and that can affect balance or alertness.
I want to be honest about the strength of this concern. It comes only from animal and lab studies, not human trials, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, since both are aiming at the same sedating effect, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

- Traditional use for fevers and infections
Adrue (Cyperus articulatus) is a sedge whose rhizome has long been used in traditional medicine for nausea and other stomach complaints, and as a mild calming agent.
