Thiopental falls under BARBITURATES — the group Adrue interacts with.

Animal research suggests that taking adrue in combination with sodium thiopental increases total sleep time three-fold compared to the effects of sodium thiopental alone. Theoretically, concomitant use of adrue and barbiturates might increase the risk of drowsiness and motor reflex depression. Some barbiturates include amobarbital (Amytal), butabarbital (Butisol), mephobarbital (Mebaral), pentobarbital (Nembutal), phenobarbital (Luminal), secobarbital (Seconal), and others.

Here's the gist for thiopental (Pentothal). This is a fast-acting barbiturate used in hospitals to put people to sleep before procedures or in certain emergency settings, so it's already a powerful sedative. The concern with adrue is that it appears to add to that calming, sleep-promoting effect. In one animal study, pairing adrue with thiopental roughly tripled total sleep time compared to thiopental alone.

So the worry is more sedation, not less: deeper or longer drowsiness and slowed reflexes and breathing. That said, this is only laboratory and animal evidence, so it's theoretical in people. Thiopental is also given by clinicians who carefully control your dose, so always tell your anesthesia team or pharmacist about any supplement like adrue beforehand.
