ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Aspirin, Oxycodone
Aspirin, Oxycodone falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Algin interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: algin is basically a seaweed-based soluble fiber that swells into a thick gel in your stomach. The concern is that this gel could grab onto your Percodan (aspirin plus oxycodone) and slow down how much of it you absorb. If less of the medicine gets into your system, you might notice weaker pain relief than usual.
I want to be honest about how shaky this one is. It's a theoretical interaction based on lab work and how fiber behaves, not real reports of people having trouble. Food amounts of algin are very unlikely to matter. If you take it as a concentrated supplement, a good habit is spacing it 30 to 60 minutes after your Percodan. Check with your pharmacist if you're unsure.

About Algin
What is Algin?
- Heartburn and acid reflux (in combination products)
- Lowering cholesterol
- Digestive health and feeling full
- Use as a thickener and binder in foods and medicines
- Weight management
Algin (alginate) is a fiber-like substance from brown seaweed that is widely used as a thickener, gel, and binder in foods and medicines. Its best-known medical use is in heartburn products, where it forms a barrier that helps reduce acid reflux; evidence for other uses like lowering cholesterol or weight loss is weaker. It is generally considered safe in food amounts, but check with your pharmacist before using it as a supplement, especially if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
