Lisdexamfetamine falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Algin interacts with.

Theoretically, algin can alter the absorption of oral drugs. Laboratory research shows that algin, when consumed as part of the diet or used as a thickening agent in infant formula, reduces the absorption of certain minerals. Also, algin has been used as a tablet binder and disintegrant to enhance drug bioavailability. To avoid changes in absorption, take algin 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's the simple version: algin is basically a soluble seaweed fiber that swells into a thick gel in your stomach. The concern is that this gel could grab onto a medication and slow or slightly reduce how much of it gets absorbed. With Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine), that could mean your morning dose feels a little weaker, like less focus or less symptom control than you're used to. Honestly, this is a theoretical worry based on lab work, not real patient reports, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

To stay on the safe side, take your Vyvanse first and wait about 30 to 60 minutes before using an algin product like a heartburn raft. Food-level amounts are unlikely to matter much. If you use algin daily, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

It is not approved or recommended for weight loss, and its safety and effectiveness for treating obesity have not been established. It is not recommended in children under 6 years old.
