Arabinoxylan + Ticagrelor
Ticagrelor brand name: Brilinta.
We found no known interaction between Arabinoxylan and Ticagrelor in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Arabinoxylan and Ticagrelor
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Ticagrelor and Arabinoxylan in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Ticagrelor
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Ticagrelor is filed under 5 classifications — including anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs, cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) inhibitors, cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) substrates. Arabinoxylan has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being antidiabetes drugs (moderate) — and none of Ticagrelor’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Arabinoxylan Does Interact With Other Medications
Arabinoxylan has 86 moderate known drug interactions in our database — Ticagrelor isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

What Ticagrelor Is Prescribed For, and What Arabinoxylan Has Been Studied For
These two come up together because they touch the same health topic — not because they do the same job. Ticagrelor is a prescription medicine with approved uses on its FDA label. Arabinoxylan is a supplement: what follows is what researchers have looked at it for, and how strong that evidence is.
Ticagrelor is prescribed for: Ticagrelor tablets are used to lower the risk of cardiovascular death, heart attack (myocardial infarction), and stroke in adults who have had acute coronary syndrome (ACS) — a group of conditions including unstable angina and heart attack — or who have a history of heart attack. It also reduces the risk of stent thrombosis (a blood clot forming in a coronary stent) in people who have been stented for ACS treatment. Ticagrelor tablets are also used in people with coronary artery disease (CAD) who are at high risk for a first heart attack or stroke, particularly those with type 2 diabetes. Additionally, Brilinta is approved to reduce the risk of stroke in adults with a mild acute ischemic stroke or a high-risk transient ischemic attack (TIA, or "mini-stroke").

Arabinoxylan for diabetes
Preliminary clinical research shows that consuming food containing approximately 15 grams of arabinoxylan daily for 5 weeks lowers fasting and postprandial glucose, postprandial insulin, and serum fructosamine concentrations when compared with placebo in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Effectiveness ratings and the research summaries above are the verbatim record from the Natural Medicines database, which grades evidence from “Effective” down to “Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate”. A rating below the top of that scale means researchers have looked at it — not that it works, and never that it can stand in for a prescribed medicine. Do not stop or replace Ticagrelor on your own; if you are taking Arabinoxylan for the same health topic, tell your prescriber, especially if the medicine is being adjusted to a target.
Questions About Arabinoxylan or Ticagrelor
These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. Each one covers Arabinoxylan or Ticagrelor, not necessarily both, but if one is close to what you were about to ask it will usually go further than a database entry can:

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Ticagrelor
This page covers Arabinoxylan only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Ticagrelor page lists 286 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Danshen (major), Grapefruit (major), Piracetam (major) and St. John's Wort (major).
By severity: 5 major · 241 moderate · 40 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ticagrelor page
“Grapefruit sits at the top of this list for good reason. Ticagrelor (Brilinta) is cleared by the CYP3A4 enzyme, and grapefruit blocks that enzyme, so drug levels can climb and bleeding becomes more likely.”

- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Arabinoxylan
What is Arabinoxylan?
- Blood sugar support
- Digestive and gut health (prebiotic)
- Cholesterol and triglyceride support
- Immune support
- Metabolic syndrome
Arabinoxylan is a type of dietary fiber found in cereal grains that acts as a prebiotic and may modestly affect blood sugar and blood fats. The evidence for most uses is early and limited, so it should not replace proven treatments. If you are considering it, talk with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Fiber extracted from the cell walls of cereal grains (such as wheat bran, rice bran, corn, rye, oat, and barley) · Powder, capsules, and a modified rice-bran product known as MGN-3 (Biobran)
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Arabinoxylan is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Arabinoxylan record says about it on its own.
Arabinoxylan: dosing
There is no official or standardized dose of arabinoxylan, and amounts used in studies have varied widely depending on the product and the goal. The best approach is to follow the directions on the specific product label and to start low and increase slowly to limit gas and bloating.
