Hydrochlorothiazide, Losartan Potassium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Astaxanthin interacts with.

Theoretically, astaxanthin may decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that astaxanthin induces CYP3A4 enzyme activity in human hepatocytes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with Hyzaar, which combines losartan (a blood pressure medicine) and hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill). In lab dishes, astaxanthin seems to speed up an enzyme called CYP3A4. Since this enzyme helps turn losartan into its more active form, faster activity could in theory tweak how much active drug you make. The bottom line for your blood pressure control is hard to predict, and honestly, it may not change much at all.

Keep this in perspective: this is only test-tube data, never shown in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If you take astaxanthin with Hyzaar, just keep an eye on your home blood pressure readings and mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can confirm everything looks steady.
