Here's the gist: valsartan (Diovan) already lowers your blood pressure, and banaba may nudge it down a little too. So when you put the two together, the effect can stack up. Valsartan isn't a prodrug, so this isn't about your liver activating or clearing it. It's simply two blood-pressure-lowering effects adding on top of each other.

In real life, that could mean feeling dizzy, lightheaded, or unusually tired, especially when you stand up quickly. The evidence here is fairly limited and mostly theoretical, so it may not be a big deal for everyone. Still, if you'd like to try banaba, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and consider keeping an eye on your blood pressure at home.

About Valsartan

What Is Valsartan Used For?

Brand names: Diovan, Prexxartan

Valsartan treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children, heart failure in adults, and reduces the risk of cardiovascular death in adults who have had a heart attack and have a weakened heart muscle. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

Diovan (valsartan) tablets are approved to treat high blood pressure in children as young as 1 year old. Valsartan tablets (other brands) are approved for children 6 years and older. Valsartan oral solution is specifically indicated for patients with heart failure or post-heart attack left ventricular dysfunction who are unable to swallow tablets.
