Consensi pairs amlodipine, a blood pressure medicine, with celecoxib for arthritis pain. The piece that matters here is the amlodipine. The concern with basil is simple: in lab and animal studies, concentrated basil extract nudged blood pressure down a little on its own. So in theory, layering it on top of amlodipine could lower your blood pressure more than expected.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or a bit unsteady when you stand up. Keep in mind this is theoretical and based only on animal research, so it's far from certain. The basil you cook with is not a worry. Concentrated basil supplements or essential oils are where you'd want to be more careful. If you use those, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
