Here's the simple version. Etodolac is an NSAID for arthritis pain and swelling, and like many anti-inflammatory drugs it can make your skin a little more sensitive to sunlight. Bergamot, especially the essential oil applied to the skin, contains a compound called bergapten that does the same thing. Put them together and the concern is that you could sunburn more easily or get a rash from the sun.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not a proven problem, so don't panic. It mostly applies to topical bergamot oil, not the cholesterol-support capsules taken by mouth. Just use sunscreen, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Etodolac Used For?

Etodolac capsules and tablets are used to manage the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, both short-term and long-term. They are also used for acute pain relief.

Etodolac extended-release tablets are indicated for the relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile arthritis (in patients aged 6 to 16).
