Here's the simple version: this isn't about how your body breaks down Lofepramine (an antidepressant). Instead, it's about sunlight. Lofepramine can make some people's skin a little more sensitive to the sun on its own. Bergamot essential oil contains a compound called bergapten, which can also make skin react more strongly to sunlight.

So if you put bergamot oil on your skin while taking Lofepramine, you could in theory be more likely to burn or get a rash in sunny areas. I'll be honest though, this is a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not something proven to happen often. Taking the cholesterol-support bergamot capsule by mouth is a different story and isn't the main worry here. Either way, a little sunscreen and a quick chat with your pharmacist is the easy move.

Bergamot is a Mediterranean citrus fruit, and its standardized extract is most often used to support cholesterol and heart health, with some early but promising research. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using bergamot supplements, especially if you take medicine for cholesterol or blood sugar.
