Here's the gist for you: bergamot may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. Pork insulin already does the heavy lifting of bringing your glucose down, so stacking a supplement that nudges it lower too could, in theory, push you into hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). That can show up as shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, confusion, or feeling lightheaded.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. The concern is theoretical and mostly based on animal studies, not solid human data. The everyday citrus or a splash of bergamot in tea is unlikely to matter much; a concentrated daily supplement is where I'd pay closer attention. If you decide to use it, check your sugars a bit more often and chat with your pharmacist or doctor first before changing anything.
