ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ibuprofen lysine
Ibuprofen lysine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Black Currant interacts with.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a constituent of black currant seed oil, appears to have antiplatelet effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here is the gist for ibuprofen lysine (NeoProfen). Ibuprofen is an NSAID, and on its own it can make your blood a bit slower to clot, which is why bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach irritation can show up. Black currant seed oil contains GLA, a fatty acid that, at least in lab work, appears to nudge platelets toward being less sticky too.
Stacked together, the theory is that they could add up and slightly raise your chance of bleeding or easy bruising. I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based on how the compounds behave, not on strong human studies. Food amounts of black currant berries are very unlikely to matter; concentrated seed oil capsules are the bigger question. If you take both regularly, just run it past your pharmacist or doctor first.

“Ibuprofen lysine (NeoProfen) is an injectable form of the NSAID ibuprofen, and this list warrants real attention, starting with its six major entries. About Black Currant
What is Black Currant?
- Dry eyes and eye strain
- Joint pain and inflammation
- Immune and general wellness support
- Cardiovascular health
- Skin conditions (such as dry skin or eczema)
Black currant is a nutritious berry that is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, and its seed oil contains the omega-6 fatty acid GLA. While it is enjoyed safely as a food and is popular as a supplement, solid human evidence for most health claims is still limited. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, or have a medical condition.
About Ibuprofen
What Is Ibuprofen Used For?
Brand name: NeoProfen
Oral ibuprofen products (tablets, coated tablets, and liquid-filled capsules) are used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains from headache, backache, toothache, muscular aches, menstrual cramps, minor arthritis pain, and the common cold, and to temporarily reduce fever. The oral prescription tablet (Ibu) is also indicated for the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, mild to moderate pain, and primary dysmenorrhea (painful periods).
Caldolor, an intravenous (IV) form, is approved for adults and children 3 months and older to manage mild to moderate pain, to manage moderate to severe pain alongside opioid pain medicines, and to reduce fever. A separate intravenous solution, Ibuprofen Lysine, is used specifically in premature infants to close a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) — an abnormal blood vessel connection near the heart — when standard medical management has not worked.
