Duexis combines two medicines: famotidine, which lowers stomach acid, and ibuprofen, an anti-inflammatory pain reliever. The reason famotidine is in there is to protect your stomach from the irritation ibuprofen can cause. The concern here is simple: blessed thistle is a bitter herb thought to increase stomach acid, so in theory it could work against the acid-lowering job famotidine is doing.

Honestly, this is a very weak, theory-based concern (just anecdotal reports), so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you're taking Duexis and notice more heartburn or stomach upset, that's worth mentioning. Don't change anything on your own. Just check with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing blessed thistle supplements with this medication.
