ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Etidronate Disodium
Etidronate Disodium falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Blond Psyllium interacts with.
Psyllium seems to have variable effects on drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take psyllium 30-60 minutes after oral medications. Animal research shows that blond psyllium delays and increases the absorption of metformin and ethinyl estradiol. Conversely, case reports and animal research suggest that blond psyllium might reduce absorption of lithium, digoxin, olanzapine, and carbamazepine. Finally, some pharmacokinetic studies show that psyllium does not affect the absorption of levothyroxine or warfarin.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing with etidronate: your body already absorbs only a tiny fraction of each dose, and that absorption is easily blocked by anything else in your stomach. Blond psyllium forms a thick gel in the gut, and that gel could physically trap some of the etidronate and carry it past where it needs to be absorbed. The likely result is less drug getting in, which could make it work less well for your Paget's disease or bone protection.
The good news is this is easy to manage by spacing them out. Etidronate already needs to be taken on an empty stomach, and keeping your psyllium at least a couple of hours away from it helps. Please run the timing by your pharmacist or doctor so you stay on track.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Etidronate Disodium page
“Etidronate disodium (Didronel) is a bisphosphonate prescribed for Paget's disease of bone, a drug already so poorly absorbed that anything blocking its uptake matters, which is why I read this list with genuine caution. Nearly every one of the 23 ingredients on file interferes with absorption in some way.”

About Etidronate
What Is Etidronate Used For?
Brand names: Didronel, Didrocal
-
Etidronate is used to treat Paget's disease of bone (a condition in which the bones are soft and weak and may be deformed, painful, or easily broken) and to prevent and treat heterotopic ossification (growth of bone tissue in an area of the body other than the skeleton) in people who have had total hip replacement surgery (surgery to replace the hip joint with an artificial joint) or in people who have had an injury to the spinal cord. Etidronate is in a class of medications called bisphosphonates. It works by slowing the breakdown of old bone and the formation of new bone.
