These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Blond Psyllium interacts with whole categories of medication. Metformin, Linagliptin falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Blond Psyllium in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
METFORMIN (Glucophage)
1 of 2Concurrent use of blond psyllium with metformin slows and increases metformin absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take psyllium 30-60 minutes after metformin.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Your Jentadueto combines two diabetes medicines, metformin and linagliptin. The interaction we have on file is with the metformin part. When psyllium and metformin land in your gut at the same time, that thick fiber gel can change how metformin is absorbed, possibly slowing it down while pulling a little more of it into your system overall. In plain terms, this could nudge your metformin effect up a bit, which might mean lower blood sugar and a slightly higher chance of stomach upset, nausea, or loose stools.
Keep in mind this is theoretical, based mostly on lab work, so it is not a strong or guaranteed effect. An easy fix many pharmacists suggest is spacing them out, taking your psyllium about 30 to 60 minutes after your Jentadueto. Please run your timing past your own pharmacist before changing anything.

ORAL DRUGS
2 of 2Why this applies to Metformin, Linagliptin
Metformin, Linagliptin falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Blond Psyllium interacts with.
Psyllium seems to have variable effects on drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take psyllium 30-60 minutes after oral medications. Animal research shows that blond psyllium delays and increases the absorption of metformin and ethinyl estradiol. Conversely, case reports and animal research suggest that blond psyllium might reduce absorption of lithium, digoxin, olanzapine, and carbamazepine. Finally, some pharmacokinetic studies show that psyllium does not affect the absorption of levothyroxine or warfarin.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: psyllium is a thick, gel-forming fiber, and when it sits in your gut alongside a pill like Jentadueto (which combines metformin and linagliptin), it can change how that pill is absorbed. The honest answer is that the direction isn't fully predictable. Animal studies actually suggest psyllium can increase and slightly delay metformin absorption, while for some other drugs it lowers absorption. This is rated a minor interaction with fairly weak evidence, so it's not something to panic about.
The easy fix is timing. Take your Jentadueto first, then wait about 30 to 60 minutes before your psyllium. That keeps the fiber from interfering. If you notice unusual stomach upset or your blood sugars shifting, check in with your pharmacist or doctor.
