Anagrelide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Boswellia Serrata interacts with.

Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes.

Here's the gist for these two together. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to help break down and clear anagrelide. Boswellia, in lab (test tube) studies, appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that effect carried over into real life, anagrelide could clear a bit more slowly and build up in your system.

More anagrelide on board could mean stronger effects and more side effects, things like headache, a pounding or fast heartbeat, dizziness, fluid retention, or stomach upset. That said, this is theoretical and based only on laboratory work, not real patients, so I wouldn't panic. Just loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding boswellia, since anagrelide is a drug they like to watch closely.

What Is Anagrelide Used For?

Brand name: Agrylin

Anagrelide — sold as Agrylin and as generic anagrelide capsules — is used to treat thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms. That means it's prescribed when a bone marrow disorder causes the body to produce too many platelets, raising the risk of dangerous blood clots.

By bringing platelet counts down to a safer range, anagrelide also helps reduce related symptoms, including bleeding and clotting events (thrombo-hemorrhagic events).
