Diclofenac Sodium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Boswellia Serrata interacts with.

Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase the levels of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP2C9 enzymes.

Here's the basic idea with these two together. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to clear diclofenac out of your system. Lab studies (done in test tubes, not in people) suggest boswellic acids can slow that enzyme down. If that happened in your body, diclofenac might hang around a bit longer and build up, which could mean more of its usual side effects.

For diclofenac, that means a higher chance of stomach upset, heartburn, stomach irritation or bleeding, and effects on blood pressure or the kidneys. I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based only on early lab work, so it may not amount to much in real life. Still, since both can be hard on the stomach, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

  • Oral tablets: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and (delayed-release) ankylosing spondylitis, plus period pain and mild to moderate pain for the immediate-release potassium tablets.
