Chlordiazepoxide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Boswellia Serrata interacts with.

Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase the levels of CYP1A2 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP1A2 enzymes.

Here's the gist for Librium (chlordiazepoxide). Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to help clear this medication. In lab studies (test tube only, not people), boswellic acids in Boswellia appear to slow that same enzyme down. If that effect carried over into real life, your body might clear chlordiazepoxide a bit more slowly, letting it build up.

What might that look like? Possibly more of the drug's usual effects, things like extra drowsiness, dizziness, grogginess, or feeling unsteady on your feet. I want to stress this is theoretical and based on weak evidence, so it may never amount to much. Still, since both can make you sleepy, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Chlordiazepoxide Used For?

Chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride capsules are used to manage anxiety disorders or for short-term relief of anxiety symptoms. They are also used to relieve withdrawal symptoms in acute alcoholism, and to reduce apprehension and anxiety before surgery.

Note that everyday stress and tension do not usually require an anxiety medication like this one. Long-term use beyond 4 months has not been well-studied, so your prescriber should periodically check whether it is still the right fit for you.
