Here's the idea behind this pairing. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear clozapine from your system. In lab dish studies, boswellic acids (the active part of Boswellia) appear to slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, clozapine could build up a bit, which might mean stronger sedation, dizziness, drooling, a faster heartbeat, low blood pressure, or constipation.

I want to be straight with you though: this is purely theoretical, based on test-tube work, not on people. Still, clozapine is a drug we watch very carefully, so even a small possible shift is worth a quick heads-up. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Boswellia, rather than changing anything on your own.

Here's the short version: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to clear clozapine out of your system. In lab studies, boswellia appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in real life, clozapine could build up higher than expected, which may mean more side effects like heavy drowsiness, dizziness, drooling, a fast heartbeat, low blood pressure, or constipation.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is purely theoretical, based on test-tube research, not on people taking both together. Clozapine is also a tricky medication that's closely monitored, so even small shifts can matter. Please don't start, stop, or change anything on your own. What Is Clozapine Used For?

Brand names: Clozaril, Versacloz

Clozapine is used for two specific situations. First, it is prescribed for people with severe schizophrenia who have already tried other antipsychotic medications and have not gotten adequate relief. It is reserved for this group because of its serious risks.

Second, clozapine is used to lower the chances of repeated suicidal behavior in people with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder who are considered to be at ongoing, chronic risk. It is not a first-choice medication — it is used when the need is serious and other options have fallen short.
