Isavuconazonium Sulfate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Boswellia Serrata interacts with.

Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase or decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Other in vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes at most concentrations, although it may modestly induce enzyme activity at low concentrations.

Here's the gist for Cresemba (isavuconazonium). Your body clears this antifungal partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dish studies, Boswellia appears to block that same enzyme at most concentrations, which could in theory let more of the drug build up. If levels climb, you might notice more of its usual side effects, like nausea, headache, low potassium, or liver enzyme changes.

I want to be honest about how soft this is. This concern comes only from test-tube research, not from people, so we truly don't know if it matters in real life. Some studies even hint Boswellia could mildly speed the enzyme up at low doses, pushing the opposite way. Since you're treating a serious fungal infection, please don't change anything on your own. Just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up before combining them.

About Isavuconazonium

What Is Isavuconazonium Used For?

Cresemba (isavuconazonium sulfate) is used to treat two serious, life-threatening fungal infections: invasive aspergillosis and invasive mucormycosis. These infections can spread through the body and are most dangerous in people with weakened immune systems.

Cresemba for injection is approved for adults and children 1 year of age and older. Cresemba capsules are approved for adults and children 6 years of age and older who weigh at least 16 kilograms (about 35 pounds).
