Mobocertinib Succinate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Boswellia Serrata interacts with.

Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might increase or decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata gum resin inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes. Other in vitro research shows that Boswellia serrata extract inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes at most concentrations, although it may modestly induce enzyme activity at low concentrations.

Here's the gist for Exkivity (mobocertinib): your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear this cancer medicine out of your system. In lab tests, boswellia mostly appears to slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, mobocertinib could build up higher than intended, which may raise your risk of its known side effects like diarrhea, nausea, mouth sores, rash, and importantly heart rhythm changes (a longer QT interval).

The good news is this is theoretical, based only on test-tube data, not real patients. Still, mobocertinib is a serious drug with a narrow safety margin, so I would not add boswellia on your own. Please run it by your oncologist or pharmacist first.

  • Mobocertinib is used to treat a certain type of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that cannot be removed by surgery and has spread to other parts of the body either during or after treatment with platinum chemotherapy medications. Mobocertinib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop or slow the spread of cancer cells and may help shrink tumors.
