Omalizumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Boswellia Serrata interacts with.

Theoretically, Boswellia serrata might alter the effects of immunosuppressive drugs.
Some in vitro research suggests that Boswellia serrata extracts might inhibit mediators of autoimmune disorders such as leukotrienes and reduce production of antibodies and cell-mediated immunity. However, other in vitro research suggests that, when coupled with calcium ions, boswellic acids containing the keto group have immunostimulant properties within specific cell signaling pathways.

Here's the honest picture: Xolair (omalizumab) is a lab-made antibody that targets IgE, the molecule behind your allergic and asthma flare-ups. It isn't processed by liver enzymes the way pills are, so boswellia won't speed it up or slow it down in your bloodstream. The concern here is different and very theoretical. Because boswellia can nudge the immune system, and Xolair works by quieting one part of that same system, there's a question on paper about whether they could pull in slightly different directions.

This worry comes only from test-tube and animal studies, not from people taking them together. The findings even point both ways, so we really can't say boswellia would weaken or strengthen your Xolair. If you're using boswellia for joint pain, just mention it to your pharmacist or asthma doctor so they can keep an eye on how well your symptoms stay controlled.

Boswellia serrata is a tree resin used in traditional medicine, mainly for joint pain and inflammation. Some studies suggest it may help with osteoarthritis symptoms, but the overall evidence is limited and more research is needed. It is generally well tolerated, but you should check with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

About Omalizumab Injection

What Is Omalizumab Injection Used For?

Brand name: Xolair

Xolair is used for several allergy-driven conditions. It treats moderate to severe persistent asthma in adults and children 6 and older whose symptoms aren't controlled by inhaled corticosteroids alone and who test positive for a perennial allergen (like dust mites or pet dander). It also treats chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (ongoing sinus inflammation with polyp growth) in adults 18 and older when nasal corticosteroids haven't worked well enough.

Xolair is approved to help reduce allergic reactions — including anaphylaxis (severe, life-threatening allergic reactions) — from accidental food exposures in adults and children as young as 1 year old with IgE-mediated food allergy. It is always used alongside food allergen avoidance, not as a substitute. Finally, Xolair treats chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU — ongoing hives with no known cause) in adults and adolescents 12 and older who still have symptoms despite taking antihistamines. It is not for emergency treatment of allergic reactions and not for other forms of hives.
