Buprenorphine Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bulbine Natalensis interacts with.

Theoretically, Bulbine natalensis stem might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Bulbine natalensis stem extract induces CYP3A4 mRNA expression and enzyme activity. Theoretically, this may increase the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates, but this has not been studied in humans.

Here's the gist: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break down buprenorphine. In test-tube studies, Bulbine natalensis seemed to rev up that enzyme. If the same thing happened in people, your body could clear buprenorphine a little faster than usual, which might mean weaker pain relief or, if you take it for opioid dependence, more breakthrough cravings or withdrawal-type feelings.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's only lab work, not human studies, so it's theoretical right now. On top of that, this supplement has raised liver and kidney safety questions in animals. Because buprenorphine is a serious pain medicine, please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding Bulbine natalensis rather than changing anything on your own.
