Theoretically, Bulbine natalensis stem might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Bulbine natalensis stem extract induces CYP3A4 mRNA expression and enzyme activity. Theoretically, this may increase the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates, but this has not been studied in humans.

Here's the gist for prednisolone: your body clears it partly through a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest Bulbine natalensis may rev up that enzyme, which in theory could speed up how fast prednisolone is broken down. If that happened, you might get less benefit from your steroid, meaning the symptoms it's controlling (like inflammation, arthritis flares, breathing trouble, or an allergic condition) could creep back.

I want to be honest, though: this is only seen in test-tube research, not in people, so it's mostly a theoretical concern. There's also worry about Bulbine possibly stressing the liver and kidneys. Before combining them, please check with your pharmacist or doctor rather than changing anything on your own.

Here's the gist for prednisolone: your body uses a little cellular pump called P-glycoprotein to move certain drugs around and out. Bulbine natalensis may interact with that pump, and prednisolone is one of the medicines that pump handles. So in theory, taking them together could shift how much prednisolone stays in your system.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It comes only from lab-dish (in vitro) research, not from people, so it's very much a theoretical concern. If levels did drift, you might notice changes in how well prednisolone controls your condition, or more typical steroid side effects like fluid retention, mood swings, higher blood sugar, or stomach upset. Since steroids shouldn't be stopped abruptly, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

Prednisolone is prescribed for many different conditions where inflammation or an overactive immune system is causing harm. These range from severe allergic reactions and asthma to certain skin diseases, blood disorders, eye problems, and some cancers.

It is also used to support the body when the adrenal glands aren't making enough of their own steroids, and to manage flares of conditions like ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, and nephrotic syndrome (a kidney condition causing protein loss in the urine).
