Morphine Sulfate falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Bulbine Natalensis interacts with.

Theoretically, Bulbine natalensis stem might increase the levels and clinical effects of p-glycoprotein substrates.
In vitro research shows that Bulbine natalensis stem extract induces p-glycoprotein mRNA expression; however, effects on transporter expression were not evaluated.

Here's the gist for morphine. Your body uses a kind of cellular bouncer called P-glycoprotein to push some of the drug back out, including in the gut and at the brain barrier. The lab signal we have suggests Bulbine natalensis might rev up that pump (induce it). In theory, more pumping could mean a bit less morphine reaching your bloodstream and brain, which could translate to weaker pain relief.

Honestly though, this is very thin evidence, just a test-tube study showing a gene signal, with no human or even live-animal confirmation. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. What does concern me more is that this supplement has raised liver and kidney safety questions. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

Morphine is used to manage acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) pain that is severe enough to need an opioid and that hasn't been adequately treated by other options. The higher-concentration liquid form is reserved for adults who are already opioid-tolerant — meaning their body is used to opioid medications.

Because of real risks of addiction, misuse, and overdose, morphine is only prescribed when other pain treatments have not worked or are not expected to work. It is not intended for long-term use unless the pain continues to be severe and no alternatives are suitable.
