Triazolam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bulbine Natalensis interacts with.

Theoretically, Bulbine natalensis stem might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Bulbine natalensis stem extract induces CYP3A4 mRNA expression and enzyme activity. Theoretically, this may increase the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates, but this has not been studied in humans.

Here's the gist for triazolam (Halcion): your body clears this sleep medication using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest Bulbine natalensis may rev up that enzyme, which would speed up how fast triazolam is broken down. In plain terms, that could leave less drug in your system, so your sleep aid might not work as well, you may have a harder time falling or staying asleep.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this comes only from test-tube and animal research, not from people, so it's more theoretical than proven. Triazolam is already a short-term, easily affected sleep drug, so I'd loop in your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two, especially since this supplement also raises liver concerns.

Triazolam tablets are approved for the short-term treatment of insomnia in adults. Treatment is generally intended for 7 to 10 days. Halcion (a brand of triazolam) is specifically indicated for this same short-term use in adults.

Using triazolam for more than 2 to 3 weeks requires a full re-evaluation by your doctor to rule out an underlying medical or psychiatric condition driving the sleep problem.
