Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Bendamustine Hydrochloride
Bendamustine Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Cabbage interacts with.
Some animal research suggests that cabbage or its constituent indole-3-carbinol might increase drug metabolism and elimination by stimulating CYP1A2 activity.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the short version for bendamustine (Bendeka). Your body partly clears this chemo drug using a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. The theory on file is that cabbage, especially in concentrated amounts, may rev up that enzyme. If that happens, bendamustine could be broken down a little faster, which in theory might mean slightly less of it working against your leukemia or lymphoma.
I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes only from lab and animal studies, not from people, so we really don't know if it matters in real life. Normal food portions of cabbage are very unlikely to be a problem. Before using cabbage supplements or large medicinal amounts during chemo, please check with your oncologist or pharmacist first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Bendamustine Hydrochloride page
“Bendamustine (Bendeka), a chemotherapy used for certain leukemias and lymphomas, carries 86 supplement and herbal interactions on file, and none of them rates major, so this is a watch-and-adjust list rather than an alarm. Nearly all of the entries, about 80, involve the same liver enzyme, CYP1A2, which helps process bendamustine.”

About Cabbage
What is Cabbage?
- Breast engorgement during breastfeeding
- Joint pain and swelling (topical)
- Digestive and stomach upset
- General nutrition and antioxidant support
- Skin and minor inflammation (topical)
Cabbage is a nutritious, low-calorie vegetable that is safe to eat as food and is sometimes applied to the skin as a leaf wrap for breast engorgement or sore joints. Most medicinal claims are based on tradition or limited research, with the strongest (though still modest) evidence being for cooling cabbage leaves on engorged breasts. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using cabbage in large amounts or as a treatment.
About Bendamustine Injection
What Is Bendamustine Injection Used For?
Brand name: Bendeka
Bendamustine hydrochloride injection is used to treat adults with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). It is also used for adults with indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) — a slow-growing type of blood cancer — when the disease has continued to progress during or within six months of treatment with rituximab or a rituximab-containing regimen.
For CLL, how well bendamustine works compared to other first-line treatments (aside from chlorambucil) has not been fully established.
