Here's the simple version: Brexanolone (Zulresso) is a strong calming medicine given as a continuous IV infusion in a hospital or clinic for postpartum depression. It already causes drowsiness, and patients are watched closely, sometimes because of deep sleepiness or even sudden loss of consciousness. California poppy is an herb thought to have its own mild calming effect on the brain. Stacking two sedating things together could, in theory, leave you more drowsy, dizzy, or harder to wake.

I'll be honest, though: the evidence here is weak and comes from lab and animal studies, not real patients. Still, since brexanolone is given under medical supervision, please tell your care team about any supplement, including California poppy, so they can keep you safe.
