Here's the simple version: tramadol already works on your brain and nervous system, and it can make you feel drowsy or fuzzy on its own. California poppy is thought to have its own mild calming effect on the same brain pathways. So when you stack the two, the worry is that the sleepiness can add up. You might feel more sedated, slower to react, dizzy, or have trouble concentrating.

I want to be honest about the evidence here. This concern comes mainly from lab and animal studies, not solid human research, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, since tramadol carries real sedation risk, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, especially if you drive or take other calming medicines.
