Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CNS DEPRESSANTS
Why this applies to Flibanserin
Flibanserin falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group California Poppy interacts with.
Laboratory research shows that California poppy has sedative effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: California poppy is a calming herb, and lab and animal studies hint that it has a mild sedating effect of its own. Flibanserin (Addyi) already comes with warnings about drowsiness, dizziness, and even fainting, especially if your blood pressure dips. Stack a calming herb on top of that, and you could feel sleepier or more lightheaded than you'd expect.
Keep in mind this concern is theoretical and rests on weak, non-human evidence, so it's not a guaranteed problem. Still, because flibanserin is taken at bedtime and already makes some women drowsy, I'd play it safe. Chat with your pharmacist or doctor before pairing the two, and don't change anything on your own.
