Cauliflower + Allopurinol
Allopurinol brand names: Zyloprim, Caplenal, Cosuric, Rimapurinol, Zyloric.
We found no known interaction between Cauliflower and Allopurinol in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.
Cauliflower and Allopurinol
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Allopurinol and Cauliflower in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Allopurinol
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Allopurinol is filed under 5 classifications — including antigout drugs, nephrotoxic drugs, hepatotoxic drugs. Cauliflower has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being cytochrome p450 1a2 (cyp1a2) substrates (moderate) — and none of Allopurinol’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Cauliflower Does Interact With Other Medications
Cauliflower has 186 moderate known drug interactions in our database — Allopurinol isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

See Every Supplement That Interacts With Allopurinol
This page covers Cauliflower only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Allopurinol page lists 60 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Asarabacca (major), Beer (major), Siberian Cocklebur (major) and Wine (major).
By severity: 5 major · 45 moderate · 10 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Allopurinol page
“Allopurinol (Zyloprim) prevents gout attacks by lowering uric acid, and I would give this list real weight, because 5 of the 60 supplements and herbs on file carry a major rating. The largest cluster, 38 ingredients, is products that can stress the liver on their own, and regular beer or wine sits in that major group, since alcohol on…”

- What “no known interaction” means: no documented interaction in the sources above — not a guarantee of safety. Supplements are studied far less than prescription drugs, so we say exactly what the evidence supports, and nothing more.
About Cauliflower
What is Cauliflower?
- General nutrition and a low-carb vegetable
- Source of vitamin C and fiber
- Antioxidant support
- Digestive and gut health
- Part of a heart-healthy diet
Cauliflower is a nutritious cruciferous vegetable that provides vitamin C, fiber, and plant compounds called glucosinolates. As a food it is healthy and safe for most people, but there is no strong proof that cauliflower supplements treat or prevent any specific disease. Enjoy it as part of a balanced diet rather than relying on pills.
Brassica oleracea var. botrytis · Brassicaceae · Edible flower head (curd); leaves and stalk are also eaten · Fresh or frozen vegetable, cooked dishes, riced cauliflower, powder, and capsules or extracts
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Cauliflower is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Cauliflower record says about it on its own.
Cauliflower: dosing
There is no established medicinal dose for cauliflower. As a food, it is simply included as one of several vegetable servings in a balanced diet, and there is no specific amount you must reach to be healthy. For cauliflower powders, capsules, or extracts, follow the directions on the product label, since strengths vary widely between products and none is standardized.

About Allopurinol
What Is Allopurinol Used For?
Brand names: Zyloprim, Caplenal, Cosuric, Rimapurinol, Zyloric
Allopurinol tablets (including Zyloprim) are used in adults to treat the signs and symptoms of gout — including gout attacks, tophi (uric acid deposits), joint damage, and kidney problems caused by uric acid. Allopurinol tablets are also used in adults to reduce recurrent calcium oxalate kidney stones when uric acid in the urine is too high, even after lifestyle changes.
For adults and children with leukemia, lymphoma, or solid tumor cancers, allopurinol is used to control uric acid levels that rise during cancer treatment. The injectable forms — Allopurinol sodium for injection and Aloprim — are specifically for patients who cannot take medicine by mouth and are given intravenously (through a vein) in a hospital or clinical setting. Note: allopurinol tablets are not recommended for people who have high uric acid levels but no symptoms.
Most-Reported Side Effects for Allopurinol
From FAERS, the FDA’s public side-effect reporting system (0 reports, all brands). Reports are voluntary and are not proof the drug caused the effect.
