Cauliflower + Olanzapine
Olanzapine brand name: Zyprexa.
Cauliflower has a moderate interaction with Olanzapine. Preliminary clinical evidence suggests that eating cruciferous vegetables, including broccoli, cauliflower, daikon radish sprouts, and cabbage, can increase cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) activity by 14% to 27%.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Olanzapine
Olanzapine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Cauliflower interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to clear olanzapine out of your system. Cruciferous veggies like cauliflower can rev that enzyme up a bit (studies suggest somewhere around a 14% to 27% bump). When that enzyme works faster, olanzapine may get broken down a little quicker, which could slightly weaken how well it controls symptoms like mood swings, agitation, or unusual thinking.
The good news? This is based on limited evidence, and normal food amounts of cauliflower on your plate are unlikely to throw things off. The bigger thing to watch is suddenly eating large, regular quantities (or taking concentrated supplements). If you do, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor rather than changing anything on your own.

About Cauliflower
What is Cauliflower?
- General nutrition and a low-carb vegetable
- Source of vitamin C and fiber
- Antioxidant support
- Digestive and gut health
- Part of a heart-healthy diet
Cauliflower is a nutritious cruciferous vegetable that provides vitamin C, fiber, and plant compounds called glucosinolates. As a food it is healthy and safe for most people, but there is no strong proof that cauliflower supplements treat or prevent any specific disease. Enjoy it as part of a balanced diet rather than relying on pills.
About Olanzapine
What Is Olanzapine Used For?
Brand name: Zyprexa
Olanzapine treats schizophrenia and the manic or mixed episodes of bipolar I disorder in both adults and adolescents (ages 13–17). It can also be used alongside valproate or lithium to treat manic or mixed episodes in adults. When combined with fluoxetine, olanzapine tablets and orally disintegrating tablets are used to treat depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder and treatment-resistant depression in adults.
Olanzapine intramuscular injection (short-acting) is used by healthcare providers to quickly calm acute agitation in adults with schizophrenia or bipolar I mania. Zyprexa Relprevv — a separate, long-acting intramuscular formulation available only through a restricted program — is indicated specifically for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults.
