Felbamate falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Chlorophyll interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyll with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. In two case reports, pseudoporphyria developed after oral intake of chlorophyll. Theoretically, concomitant use with other photosensitizing drugs may exacerbate this effect.

Here's the gist for this pairing: it isn't about how your body breaks down felbamate or how strong your seizure medicine ends up being. Instead, both chlorophyll and felbamate can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Put them together and that sun sensitivity may add up, so you could sunburn faster or get a rash on areas that catch the light.

I'll be honest, this is mostly theoretical, built on a couple of case reports where oral chlorophyll triggered a skin reaction. It's not a sign felbamate will work better or worse. If you take both, just be smart in the sun (sunscreen, hat, cover up) and watch for any unusual rash or blistering. Loop in your pharmacist or doctor before starting chlorophyll, and let them know about any new skin changes.

About Felbamate

What Is Felbamate Used For?

Brand name: Felbatol

Felbamate is not a first-line seizure medication. It is used only when a person's epilepsy has not responded well enough to other treatments and the seizures are severe enough that the serious risks of this drug are considered acceptable.

In adults, felbamate can be used alone or alongside other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) to treat partial seizures (seizures that start in one part of the brain), with or without spreading to become a full seizure. In children, felbamate is used as an add-on treatment for both partial and generalized seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy. Felbatol is specifically labeled for these uses in both adults and children.
