Interferon Gamma-1b falls under PHOTOSENSITIZING DRUGS — the group Chlorophyll interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chlorophyll with photosensitizing drugs may have additive effects.
Chlorophyll has been reported to cause photosensitization. In two case reports, pseudoporphyria developed after oral intake of chlorophyll. Theoretically, concomitant use with other photosensitizing drugs may exacerbate this effect.

Here's the short version: both chlorophyll and Actimmune (interferon gamma-1b) have been linked to making your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Put them together and that sun sensitivity could, in theory, add up. This isn't about chlorophyll changing how your body processes the drug. It's simply two things that can each make you more prone to sunburn, rashes, or a stronger reaction to UV light.

I'll be honest, this is mostly theoretical and rests on a couple of older case reports tied to chlorophyll. For most people it won't be a big deal, but it's smart to use sunscreen, cover up, and limit strong sun while you're on Actimmune. If you're set on a chlorophyll supplement, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Interferon Gamma-1b Injection Used For?

Brand name: Actimmune

Actimmune (interferon gamma-1b) is approved for two specific inherited conditions. First, it reduces how often and how severely serious infections occur in people with chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) — a rare inherited disorder where certain immune cells can't fight off infections properly.

Second, Actimmune is used to delay disease progression in patients with severe, malignant osteopetrosis (SMO) — a rare inherited bone disorder where bones become abnormally dense and the immune system doesn't work as it should.
