ORAL DRUGS
Why this applies to Bisoprolol, Hydrochlorothiazide
Bisoprolol, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Coffee Charcoal interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the simple version: coffee charcoal works a bit like activated charcoal, with a porous surface that can grab onto things in your gut. If you take it too close to your Ziac (bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide), it may soak up some of the medicine before your body absorbs it. That means less drug gets into your system, so your blood pressure or heart rate could end up less controlled than usual.
Keep in mind this concern is theoretical, based on how charcoal behaves rather than firm studies with this exact pill. The easy fix is timing: separate the two by at least two hours. Before you start using coffee charcoal regularly, check with your pharmacist or doctor so your blood pressure stays on track.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Bisoprolol, Hydrochlorothiazide page
“This is one of the supplement lists I would read closely before adding anything alongside bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide (Ziac). The combination already lowers blood pressure two ways, and most of these interactions push on those same levers, either dropping pressure further or acting like extra diuretics that compound potassium an…”

About Coffee Charcoal
What is Coffee Charcoal?
- Diarrhea
- Inflammatory bowel conditions
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Mild digestive upset
- Wound and skin care (topical, traditional)
Coffee charcoal is made by roasting green coffee beans until they turn black, creating a charcoal-like material used traditionally for diarrhea and digestive complaints.
