Here's the gist with Uniretic (which combines hydrochlorothiazide, a water pill, with moexipril, a blood pressure medicine). Like other forms of charcoal, coffee charcoal has a porous surface that can grab onto medicines sitting in your stomach and intestines before your body absorbs them. If you swallow them at the same time, less of your blood pressure pill may actually get into your system.

In plain terms, your Uniretic could end up working less than it should, meaning your blood pressure might not stay as well controlled. The easy fix is timing: separate the two by at least two hours. This concern is based on how charcoal behaves, not on hard studies, but it's a sensible precaution. Please run your routine past your pharmacist or doctor first.
