These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Combretum Micranthum interacts with whole categories of medication. Hydrochlorothiazide, Losartan Potassium falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Combretum Micranthum in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
1 of 2Why this applies to Hydrochlorothiazide, Losartan Potassium
Hydrochlorothiazide, Losartan Potassium falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Combretum Micranthum interacts with.
Clinical research suggests that Combretum micranthum leaf reduces blood pressure.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with kinkeliba tea (Combretum micranthum) and your Hyzaar. Hyzaar already lowers your blood pressure two ways: losartan relaxes your blood vessels, and hydrochlorothiazide is a water pill that helps you shed extra fluid. Some research suggests this leaf can nudge blood pressure down too. Stack them together and you may push your pressure a little too low.
If that happens, you might feel dizzy or lightheaded, especially standing up, or just unusually tired or washed out. The evidence here is fairly thin, so I'm not ringing alarm bells. Still, if you'd like to try this tea, please mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your home blood pressure readings.

DIURETIC DRUGS
2 of 2Hydrochlorothiazide, Losartan Potassium also falls under DIURETIC DRUGS.
Combretum micranthum leaf has shown natriuretic effects in preliminary clinical research.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with Hyzaar (hydrochlorothiazide plus losartan). The hydrochlorothiazide part is a water pill that already makes your body shed sodium, which can sometimes drop your sodium levels too low, a condition called hyponatremia. Early, lower-quality research suggests kinkeliba tea (Combretum micranthum) may also have a mild salt-flushing effect. Stacking the two could, in theory, nudge your sodium lower than you'd want.
Low sodium can show up as headache, tiredness, dizziness, muscle cramps, nausea, or feeling foggy or unsteady. This is more of a theoretical concern, and an occasional cup of tea is far less worrisome than a concentrated daily supplement. Still, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, especially if you ever feel weak or lightheaded.
