Ibrutinib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Cordyceps interacts with.

Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with this pairing. Ibrutinib already raises your bleeding risk on its own, because it affects how platelets stick together and form clots. That's why people on it can notice more bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums. Cordyceps, at least in lab dishes and animal studies, also seems to make platelets less sticky.

So the worry is that stacking the two could add up and make bleeding a bit more likely. To be fair, this has not actually been seen in people, and the evidence is early and theoretical. Still, since ibrutinib is a serious medication, I'd play it safe. Please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding cordyceps, especially around any procedures or surgery.

Cordyceps is a fungus used in traditional Chinese medicine for energy, exercise performance, and lung and immune support. Human research is limited and mostly low quality, so its benefits are not well proven. What Is Ibrutinib Used For?

Brand name: Imbruvica

Imbruvica (ibrutinib) is approved for adult patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) / small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), including those with a specific genetic change called 17p deletion, and for adult patients with Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), a rare type of blood cancer.

Imbruvica is also approved for chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) — a complication that can occur after a stem cell transplant — in adults and children aged 1 year and older whose condition did not respond to at least one prior treatment.
