Your Atacand HCT pairs two blood pressure lowerers: candesartan, an ARB that relaxes blood vessels, and hydrochlorothiazide, a water pill that helps your body shed extra fluid and salt. Some animal studies hint that coriander fruit may also nudge blood pressure down a bit. So in theory, layering concentrated coriander on top of your medication could add to the effect and push your pressure too low.

Keep this in perspective. The evidence here is weak (lab and animal only), and the cilantro or coriander you sprinkle on tacos or curry is very unlikely to matter. The bigger question is with strong extracts or essential oils. If you ever feel dizzy, lightheaded, or unusually tired, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Here's the simple version: the hydrochlorothiazide part of your Atacand HCT can already make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, so you may sunburn faster than usual. Coriander contains a compound called coriandrin that, at least in lab studies, seems to add to that sun-sensitizing effect. So in theory, pairing the two could nudge your risk of a quicker or worse sunburn a little higher.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes from anecdotal reports and test-tube research, not solid human studies, and the cilantro you sprinkle on food is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated coriander extracts or oils are the bigger question mark. Either way, wearing sunscreen is smart on this medication. Check with your pharmacist if you're considering supplement-strength coriander.
